Who can apply for a grant

Non Governmental Organisations (NGOs), Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) and Community Based Organisations (CBOs) can be local or national; CDP hopes to expand to sub-regional or regional organisations.


What types of grants do you support?

CDP gives grants for projects related to core thematic areas. We expect applicants to build in relevant and reasonable running /core costs into their activity proposals


How do you decide which activities to fund?

CDP has a set of application guidelines. See Small Grants


What is the CDP grant cycle?

CDP's grant cycle begins in February till April when decisions are made.


Where does CDP get its money from?

CDP works with a core group of institutional donors who have shown a willingness to support the establishment of a philanthropic institution in Ghana and West Africa. Over the past three years, the CDP has been successful in mobilising resources from Traditional donors, Corporate Bodies and Individuals.


Can you provide me with a scholarship to pursue graduate studies abroad?

CDP does not fund individuals neither do we provide scholarships for study


How can I help?

You can support the work of the CDP in several ways. Contact us if you are interested in any of the following:

  • Make a cash donation for general support. Cheques should be made payable to the Centre for Development Partnerships.
  • Make a one-off or ongoing donation toward a specific issue close to your heart, i.e. rural development, capacity building, human rights, women & children etc.
  • Provide information on possible sources of funding.
  • Host a fund-raising event for CDP.
  • Begin a cycle of philanthropy.
  • In Kind Gifts i.e. computers, photocopiers, vehicles, building materials, food items.
  • Offer your services as a volunteer.

Can donors choose who they want to donate to?

Yes you can give to any recognized charitable institution or individual.


What happens if I want to respond to an emergency appeal?

Donors are free to choose when to give and how often to give to a particular charity. Donors can instruct CDP to make a donation on his / her behalf in case of an emergency


Is there a limit to the size of donation I can give?

There is no limit to how much you can give. There is no official minimum but we do recommend that donors give a minimum of 50, 000 Ghana cedis at a time.


A donor has pledged to give 50,000 a month to our cause, why didn't we receive exactly 50,000?

A small administrative charge is deducted from each donation. Some Employers however opt to pay the charges on behalf of employees so that the full amount they donate goes to charity


How do I ensure my donations are not squandered?

CDP adds value to the donations you make by ensuring that beneficiaries carry out activities the donations are meant to support and report back to donors on the impact of their donation and the difference they are making in people''s live hence the administrative charges .
