
The World Bank, Ghana Office in partnership with the Centre for Development Partnerships (CDP) invites applications from eligible organizations for its 2010 Civil Society Fund (CSF). The theme for the 2010 cycle is:
“Gender, Water and Sanitation: Building the case for Sustainable use through Transparent and Accountable Mechanisms”
The theme explores gender related issues in the water and sanitation sector and how these, through transparent and accountable instruments can be addressed to ensure sustainable water supply, use and management.
About the Programme
The Civil Society Fund (CSF) focuses on civic engagement activities that empower and enable marginalized and vulnerable groups to have greater ownership of development processes in order to promote inclusive and equitable development. The activities strengthen mechanisms for inclusion, accountability, participation and partnerships with the public sector, civil society organizations and the private sector.
Who can apply?
Civil society organizations (CSOs) based in Ghana, in good standing, and working on development issues can apply. Such organizations should have a record of achievement and financial probity. The Civil Society Fund is able to fund a small percentage of the requests it receives as demand far exceeds the funds available.
What sorts of activities are supported?
Activities related to civic engagements such as the promotion of dialogue and the dissemination of information and enhancement of partnerships with key players in the development process. They may include workshops, seminars, costs of publications, information campaigns, capacity building and innovative networking efforts.
Which activities are not supported?
Research programmes, formal academic training, operational projects, institutional support (including capital equipment), scholarships, infrastructure projects and individuals applying on their own behalf.
What size of grants will be awarded this year?
This year, selected organizations will receive a grant of not more than GHc15,000.
